The problem

A streaming catalog has to feel abundant but browsable, work across web and mobile, and a kids mode has to feel genuinely different and safe. The design carried one system across every screen and two very different moods.

Overview

Lean back, or hand it to the kids

ROKiT Flix is a streaming platform — new releases, originals, catalog browsing, search and playback — designed for web and mobile, with a separate, playful kids experience (its own catalog, games and safe mode).

The grown-up app is dark and cinematic; the kids world is bright and safe — one system, two very different moods, across every screen.

In closing

What changed

  • A streaming platform across web and mobile, with a rich catalog, originals and playback.
  • A dedicated Flix Kids world — its own content, games and safety — inside one system.

What's still open

  • An earlier project — shown here as mockups of the design work.

What I learned

One product, two moods: a kids mode earns trust by feeling truly different, not just recoloured.
